Malabon murder suspect caught

A man wanted by the law for the murder of two men in Malabon five years ago was arrested by police in an operation conducted in Guiguinto, Bulacan.

Senior Superintendent Moises Guevarra, Malabon police chief, commended his men at the Warrant and Subpoena Section, led by SPO2 Edgardo Cristobal, for the arrest of suspect Gabriel Santiago, 50, a construction worker and resident of Sto. Niño, Purok 3, Hagonoy, Bulacan.

The suspect had been the subject of a manhunt for the killing of Edwin Martin and a certain "Delfin," both of Navotas, in 2001.

Santiago was arrested in Barangay Tuktukan in Guiginto, Bulacan on the strength of a warrant issued by Malabon Judge Benjamin Antonio.

Guevarra said he received information on the whereabouts of Santiago, who was spotted in his hometown in Bulacan.

He immediately sent a team led by Cristobal. Santiago has been turned over to the court of origin for disposition.
