July 20, 2006 | 12:00am
Intelligence operatives of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) arrested the other day three suspects tagged in a series of robbery and sexual assaults on female FX passengers along Commonwealth Avenue.
Inspector Rodel Marcelo, head of the intelligence team that tracked down the gang, identified the arrested suspects as Reden Francisco, Arsenio Guzman and Roberto Lugto, all residents of Barangay Holy Spirit.
In his report to QCPD director Chief Superintendent Nicasio Radovan and Chief Inspector Rodrigo Banuto, Marcelo said the modus operandi of the gang was to drive an FX taxi and pick up female passengers along the stretch of Commonwealth Avenue from Elliptical Road to North Fairview.
The suspects would then announce a holdup and tie up their victims before sexually assaulting them at a vacant lot in Fairview Subdivision.
"They choose and pickup female passengers, divest them of cash and valuables before molesting them," Marcelo told The STAR.
He said they tracked down and caught the suspects in Holy Spirit. Recovered were several cell phones and valuables belonging to their latest victims. Also seized were knives used by the suspects in their criminal activities. Perseus Echeminada
