Nine girls were rescued by the Manila police in a raid on a suspected cybersex den in Malolos, Bulacan last Saturday, resulting in the arrest of two alleged maintainers and the seizure of several computer units.
Manila Police District (MPD) director Chief Superintendent Pedro Bulaong presented the two suspects and 15 computer units with webcams to mediamen yesterday.
Bulaong said suspects Ronald Robles, alias Kuya Ronald, 24, and Angelina Torres, alias Ate Bagets, 30, had been recruiting minors in Manila as performers for their cybersex operations.
The raid on the suspects den in Gervacio street, Barangay Mojon, San Jose, Malolos City in Bulacan was precipitated by the complaint of a 19-year-old Tondo lass who was able to escape from the sex den.
Operatives of the MPDs District Police Intelligence Unit, led by Chief Inspector Joselito Sta. Teresa, swooped down on the suspects house and caught nine young girls in various stages of undress in front of a webcam.
Also seized from the suspects were bank books, cellular phones and a Mitsubishi Adventure van without license plates.
Bulaong said the suspects cater mostly to foreigners through the website www.masarap.com or www.123.com. Clients pay P88 per minute of viewing, with the performers getting 40 percent.
Charges of trafficking in persons were filed against the two suspects.
