Police arrested a 17-year-old boy and his 20-year-old cousin in Tanay, Rizal last Wednesday, a day after they allegedly abducted a 14-year- old neighbor in Quezon City last Tuesday.
Arrested were Mark Anthony Gloria, 20, a helper, of Block 7, Pilot Area and a 17-year-old student, of the MRB compound, both in Barangay Commonwealth in Quezon City.
Metro police chief Director Vidal Querol presented the suspects to the media yesterday at Camp Crame.
Batasan police station chief Superintendent Julius Abanes said the suspects, who had demanded P800,000 in ransom, were arrested by police after their victim, the son of furniture shop owners, managed to escape.
Last July, 11 the 17-year-old suspect asked the victim, his neighbor, to take him to their furniture shop.
On their way to the furniture shop, the suspect was joined by Gloria, who said he would accompany them.
Instead of going to the furniture shop, the suspects brought the victim to an abandoned house in Tanay, Rizal and contacted his parents to demand P800,000 in exchange for his release.
Before any ransom could be paid, the victim managed to escape and sought the help of residents, who assisted him in reporting the incident to the police.
Police raided the abandoned house and arrested the suspects. The two will be charged with kidnapping-for-ransom before the Quezon City Prosecutors Office.
