Cops inching forward in Albano slay case

The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) continues to "inch forward" in the investigation of Isabela town Mayor Delfinito Albanos murder as additional teams of law enforcement operatives are dispatched within and outside Metro Manila.
QCPD Director Chief Superintendent Nicasio Radovan Jr. said they are doing everything to make sure the suspects are captured, this time giving a more conservative time period for police to arrest the group responsible for the slay.
He said police would make an arrest in a weeks time.
"Earlier, I said we would be able to capture them in three days. It did not happen, but not because I erred in my estimate. Its just that we want to be really sure about this," Radovan told The Star in an interview.
Radovan said teams of QCPD detectives are now deployed in Metro Manila and Isabela.
But he declined to elaborate so as not to jeopardize police operations.
"We are conducting a 24-hour operation and we are inching forward to the resolution of the case," he also said.
Previously, Radovan disclosed that among the angles being pursued by police investigators are business and politics.
The QCPD chief also noted that the gunmen were not professional killers, considering the amount of bullets spent to carry out the attack.
Police said the identity of the suspects was given away through various clues, including the last call received by Albano. The last call prompted Albano to leave his house in Greenhills, San Juan without his bodyguards.
Albano proceeded to Quezon City, where he was gunned down last Tuesday night.
