Belmonte said the infrastructure program, which involves about 200 projects, is expected to be completed during his term.
Tadeo Palma, secretary to the mayor and chairman of the infrastructure evaluation committee, said the infrastructure projects, which include a flood control system, construction and repair of schools health centers, libraries, police stations and improvenment of city facilities will be bidded out this month.
The projects also include the improvement of the Amoranto Sports Complex, the Novaliches District Center, and construction of city roads and bridges.
Belmonte has also approved the construction of a covered basketball court within the city hall complex. The pavement of streets from East and Kalayaan Avenues towards city will likewise be undertaken.
Joselito Cabungal, officer-in-charge of the city engineering department, reported that a multi-story building will be constructed in the areas earlier cleared in the city hall compound to house the Department of Public Order and Safety (DPOS) and the Environment Protection and Waste Management Division.
Belmonte added that plans are underway for the construction of another sports complex that will function as an alternative venue to the Amoranto Sports Complex. — Perseus Echeminada
