Fires hit Manila for two straight days, destroying a popular restaurant in Intramuros and a row of houses in Tondo.
No one was reported hurt in the two fires.
A fire of still undetermined origin struck the Bacolod Chicken House at the ground floor of the five-story FEMII Building along A. Soriano street in Intramuros at 7:50 a.m. yesterday.
The fire reportedly started at the kitchen area of the restaurant.
Responding firefighters prevented the fire from spreading to other floors of the building, while its occupants were safely evacuated.
The fire was finally placed under control seven minutes later.
On Wednesday morning, a 50-minute fire razed a residential area in Tondo rendering some 20 families homeless.
Arson investigator SFO2 Gaudencio Magallanes said the fire started at a two-story residential structure owned by one Gregorio Dimasangal. The fire was noted at around 10:09 a.m. at a second-floor room occupied by the Olano family.
The fire was finally put out at around 10:50 a.m. after razing some 10 houses in the area and reaching the fifth alarm.
Some P150,000 worth of property was destroyed in the fire.
