Unlimited supply of safe water for QC’s poor communities

-
Quezon City dwellers who cannot afford of water lines are now assured of a "never-ending" supply of safe and potable water as the city government caused the construction of 15 deepwells in the city’s depressed communities.

A total amount of P1.260 million has been allocated for the project, of which P1 million was funded from President Arroyo’s Social Fund, with the remaining balance shouldered by the Office of Vice Mayor Herbert Bautista.

The President’s Social Fund was mandated to implement the President’s social agenda to fast track the delivery of basic services to depressed communities.

Bautista said he and Mayor Feliciano Belmonte Jr. resolved to push for the installation of said artesian wells to meet the needs of their constituents yearning for clean and drinkable water.

Bautista identified the areas where the deepwells were constructed as Pugad Lawin High School in Barangay Bahay Toro; Adelina Farm, Sitio San Roque, Barangay Bagong Pag-asa; Adamos Compound, Barangay Sto. Domingo; Area 5 Veterans, Barangay Bagong Silangan; Group 1 Area B, Barangay Payatas; Sitio Veterans, Barangay Bagong Silangan; and Katuparan street and Barangay Commonwealth.

Also installed were artesian wells in Sauyo Road, Barangay Sauyo; Ibayo II, Barangay Bagbag; Margarita Compound, Barangay San Roque; Sitio Payong, Area III, Barangay Old Balara; side of Barangay Hall, Barangay Libis, NIA Road, Barangay Pinyahan; Manggahan Area, Barangay Botocan; and 18th Avenue corner Don Jose street, Barangay San Roque.

The scheduled formal turnover of said deepweels kicked off in Barangay Sauyo.
