DOLE holds job fair tomorrow

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) will celebrate Independence Day tomorrow by holding a job and livelihood fair at the Rizal Park.

Acting Labor Secretary Danilo Cruz said that the livelihood component of the project involves imparting practical skills on cell phone repair, reflexology, fish deboning and product labeling and packaging.

The workshops will be conducted by DOLE’s Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) in partnership with the Department of Science and Technology (DOST).

"Our hope is that through such skills demonstration, we would widen the opportunities and provide legitimate, gainful alternatives to our workers along with the 30,000 job opportunities to be made available by some 135 local employers, and 34 licensed overseas recruitment agencies, during the fair," he said.

Cruz added that major companies will also participate in the trade show and various business opportunity are available. These firms will provide business mentoring, franchising and product sampling to local and overseas workers.

The companies and agencies participating in the livelihood component include San Miguel Corp., CDO Foodsphere, Portal, Super Value, Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the Overseas Workers’ Welfare Administration (OWWA).
