Muntinlupa launches shame campaign vs fixers
June 8, 2006 | 12:00am
The Local Civil Registry-National Statistics Office (LCR-NSO) in Muntinlupa has warned fixers to end their illegal activities in the city or become targets of a shame campaign.
This developed after reports of alleged fixing activities within the local NSO reached the office of Mayor Jaime Fresnedi.
After verifying the report, Fresnedi ordered LCR head Rafael Burgos to get rid of the fixers.
One LCR official said some of alleged fixers are utility workers and ambulant vendors who offer people faster release of documents for a certain amount.
Burgos prohibited all employees of Muntinlupa City Hall from entering the NSO premises during office hours. Vendors have been banned from the NSO premises.
"We are warning these fixers that they will be subjected to a shame campaign if the LCR-NSO catches them soliciting money in exchange for the service they offer," he stressed.
The shame drive may include publication of fixers photos in local papers or even national dailies.
Fresnedi noted that there are no longer any fixers at income-generating offices in City Hall since they have long addressed the problem of red tape and corruption.
