Maynilad warns public vs fake employees offering services

Maynilad Water Services Inc. is warning residents in its West Zone concession of the illegal activities being done by individuals who offer to downgrade the industrial or commercial rate of Maynilad customers to residential for a fee.

"This is an illegal operation, as changing the rate code is done for free and only after proper determination by Maynilad’s Zone Management Teams," the company said.

Some customers have complained that a man posing as Maynilad employee Ernesto Guda offered to bring down their rate code if they paid a fee ranging from P6,000 to P12,000.

According to Lucy Diaz, one of the complainants, she only realized that she was misled when her water bill rate had not changed after a month.

She then reported the incident to Maynilad’s South Manila Business Center.

After asking for Mr. Guda, Diaz was shocked when she saw a different Ernesto Guda approach her. The real Mr. Guda is a frontline specialist at the South Manila Business Center.

Diaz described the fake Maynilad employee to be about 50 years old, of heavy build and dark skinned. He carries folders and files and even wears a Maynilad ID.
