A physician-lawmaker from Samar was rushed to the Philippine Heart Center yesterday after suffering from a heart attack after spending time in a gym in Quezon City.
Western Samar Rep. Reynaldo Uy, 54, was declared safe by PHC doctors and is awaiting instructions on when he can go home, said Jose Lo, the congressmans brother-in-law said.
"He was just tired because for one week, he has been traveling to Visayas and back to Manila. It worsened because he also went to the gym. But he is okay now. His condition has stabilized. He is now conscious," he told reporters.
Uys sister Conchita revealed this was not the first time he suffered a heart attack, saying he has undergone a heart bypass and that having heart problems was common in the family.
