Navotas launches ‘JOLOGS’

-
Navotas’ road network is expected to undergo a major facelift with the municipal government’s implementation of "Oplan JOLOGS (Just Obey our Laws on Good Manners in the Streets)" next week, even as it scheduled the rehabilitation of at least 10 major roads of this coastal town.

Navotas Mayor Tobias "Toby" Tiangco yesterday ordered the repair of the roads to maximize the use of streets, sidewalks and public facilities.

The mayor said traffic lanes will be set up in strategic places to ensure the order and smooth flow of traffic, particularly in areas near the schools. The roads will also be cleared of illegal structures and obstructions.

Tiangco said the roads to be rehabilitated include C-3 Road, North Bay Boulevard (Agora Market), C-4 Road, M. Naval corner Santiago street, Los Martirez streets, A. de la Cruz corner M. Naval, F. Pascual street, A. Lengson corner Gov. Pascual, P. Gabriel street, and Santiago corner Gov. Pascual street.

Tiangco also ordered the municipality’s Public Order and Safety Office (POSO) and Task Force Disiplina (TSD) for the strict and full implementation of existing local ordinances on jaywalking, non-wearing of helmet for motorcycles riders, littering and loitering in the streets, among others.

He also ordered the immediate repair of damaged roads, canals and sidewalks, adding a team of engineers tasked to monitor if the project is being undertaken in accordance with the Balik Eskwela campaign timetable. — Jerry Botial, Pete Laude
