Caloocan traffic enforcer commits suicide

A 28-year-old traffic enforcer committed suicide before midnight Saturday in Caloocan City.

Police identified the victim as Metosalim Isaac, a traffic enforcer at the Caloocan City Hall and a resident of Maligaya Compound in Barangay 177, Caloocan City North.

The victim’s wife, Mary Ann, discovered her husband’s body hanging from a wooden beam inside their room at around 11:45 p.m.

The wife immediately sought assistance from relatives in detaching the nylon cord looped around the victim’s neck.

She then rushed her husband to the FEU Hospital but the doctors declared him dead on arrival.

The wife told the cops that only recently, her husband also tried to end his life but was prevented by members of their household.

She said her husband had often complained to his friends about his financial problems and meager pay as a traffic enforcer and his insecurities as his wife earns more than him.

Reyes said that a thorough investigation is still ongoing to determine if there is indeed no foul play in Isaac’s death. — Pete Laude, Kris Rodette Belanizo
