Malabon junkshop robbed

Four men aboard two motorcycles robbed a junkshop while it was about to close Friday afternoon in Malabon City and shot its helper who tried to intervene.

Sirginel Legarda, 21, helper of Dante’s Junk Shop located at 29 M. H. del Pilar st., Barangay Panghulo, Malabon City, was shot in the foot by the suspects when he tried to run after the robbers.

At around 5 p.m, shop owner Dante Mendoza, 50, was preparing to close his junkshop when two men on board a motorcycle suddenly barged in.

Armed with a caliber .45 and .9 mm pistols, the suspects announced a heist and ordered Mendoza to hand them over the day’s collection.

The suspects divested the trader of some P110,000 in cash and his cellphone before fleeing aboard a motorcycle without license plate.

Legarda, who witnessed the incident tried to run after the suspects but was shot in the foot by two other robbers who served as lookouts.

The suspects sped off to an unknown direction.

Malabon police chief Senior Superintendent Moises Guevarra ordered a manhunt against the suspects and will be on the lookout for men riding in tandem in motorcycles. — Pete Laude, Kris Rodette Belanizo
