Couple killed in QC fire

A couple was trapped in a fire that gutted a shanty along Masbate St. in Barangay Bagong Silangan shortly before midnight on Tuesday.

Nestor Emerenciano, Bagong Silangan barangay executive officer, identified the fatalities as Joseph and Marlene Guevera. Their charred remains were recovered by responding firemen.

"The fire was caused by a kerosene lamp which was left unattended by the couple," Emerenciano said. — Perseus Echeminada
