Three more prisoners were recaptured several hours after bolting the Jose Abad Santos police station in Tondo, Manila on Friday, bringing to eight the number of escapees brought back to jail out of the 17 prisoners who made the daring escape.
Jose Abad Santos police station chief Superintendent Arturo Paglinawan identified the recaptured prisoners as Jonathan Pantig, Florecel Gutierrez and Roy Serrano.
Pantig, who is facing rape charges, surrendered to Paglinawan Friday afternoon while Gutierrez was nabbed at his lair past 8 p.m. Serrano was subsequently arrested in Cavite before midnight.
"Hopefully, the remaining nine escapees would all be recaptured in a matter of time, since we already have information on their whereabouts," Paglinawan told The STAR.
Shortly after their escape, five of the prisoners were picked up one after the other in their hiding places. They were Christian Garcia, Jaime Salcedo, Roberto Macalalad, Rolando Alba and Marlon Fernando.
Still at large are Ariel Dollente, Divino Jimenez, Rolando Bautista, Edwin Magusara, Sonny de los Reyes, Rolando Dizon, Jonathan Poreda, Carlito Relox and Roosevelt Bondoc, who has reportedly initiated the jailbreak.
