Japan supports QC’s ‘Sagip Baga’ campaign

Sagip Baga, an anti-tuberculosis campaign of the Quezon City government, got a big boost the other day after the Japanese government donated a brand-new van and other medical facilities to monitor the anti-TB program being implemented by the city health department in depressed barangays in the city.

Dr. Mie Kasamatsu, Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) project manager, personally handed to Quezon City Mayor Feliciano Belmonte Jr. the keys of a Mitsubishi L-300 van during the flag raising ceremony the other day.

The van will be used in monitoring some 1,700 tuberculosis patients who are undergoing treatment in various health centers in the city.

Dr. Antonieta Innumerable, city health officer-in-charge, said Quezon City and Manila are among the pilot areas of the JICA in their anti-TB program in the National Capital Region.

"The JICA is providing the technical support to our campaign against TB," Innumerable said.

The Sagip Baga project is one of the programs being implemented by Belmonte to deliver health services particularly in depressed areas.
