The search for Outstanding Manileños is an annual undertaking of the city government which seeks to give recognition to men and women whose achievements in their chosen profession or vocation have contributed extraordinary and invaluably to the development of Manila.
Nominations for Outstanding Manileños may be made by any person, group or organization for any of the following categories: Arts and Culture; Broadcast Leadership; Business and Industry; Civic Responsibility; Education; Engineering/Construction; Entrepreneurial Leadership; Finance; Historical/Cultural Advocacy; Humanitarian Service; Journalism; Law; medicine; Movie and Television Arts; Public/Government Services; Science and Technology; spiritual Leadership; Sports Advocacy/Leadership; Statesmanship/Diplomacy; and, other fields.
Aside from proof of their outstanding achievements and contribution to the development of the city, nominees should satisfy any of the following criteria in order to qualify: born and residing in Manila; born in Manila but not a resident of the city; not Manila-born but a bonafide resident and registered voter of the city; and, not Manila-born/resident of the city but has brought Manila honors, prestige and benefits and has tremendously contributed towards the development of the city.
The award criteria and the numerical equivalent are as follows: Service to the City of Manila and/or the nation (55 points); Outstanding performance in their respective fields (25 points); Proven leadership, including moral rectitude, probity and pioneering spirit (15 points); and, other qualities (5 points).
Those chosen by the screening committee as this years Outstanding Manileños have to be personally present to accept their awards during the awarding ceremony. Failure to appear in person would mean forfeiture of their award.
The deadline for the submission of nominations is on May 20, 2006. Nominations must be submitted on or before the deadline to the Committee Secretariat at the Office of the City Personnel Officer, 2nd Floor, Room 210 Manila City Hall.
