Its Carless Day in Marikina tomorrow

In a bid to promote clean environment, the Marikina City government has declared April 24 as a "carless day" in the city.
In a statement, Elena Tango, project assistant of the Marikina City Bikeways Office (MCBO), advised the public not to use their private vehicles from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. to show their support in promoting a healthy environment.
The quality of air in different locations in Marikina will also be tested by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).
The DENR will set up their gadgets and equipment four days before April 24 to get a more accurate result of the air testing.
The Marikina City government is also promoting the use of bicycles as an alternative mode of transportation. The MCBO plans to close some roads in Marikina tomorrow.
Meanwhile, the Marikinas Waste Management Office held a one-day activity for collecting recyclables during the weekend, which aims to discard recyclable waste in all city government offices. Sandy Araneta
