Alert barangay watchmen arrested the alleged leader of a notorious robbery gang and his trusted man during a failed robbery try Friday night in Malabon City.
Senior Superintendent Moises "Kamagong" Guevarra, Malabon City police chief, identified the suspects as Wendell Kalinawan, 26, alias Boy Negro, and his cohort Boromeo Apao, 26, both residents of Barangay Catmon.
Kalinawan, tagged as the leader of the Boy Negro robbery group, yielded a caliber .38 revolver with three live bullets while a 13-inch kitchen knife was recovered from Apao.
According to Barangay watchman Leonardo Billones, the two suspects were spotted on Dagat-Dagatan Avenue corner Lapu-Lapu Avenue.
He said they followed the suspects who were walking fast behind two nurses working at the nearby Pagamutang Bayan ng Malabon (PBM). As the suspects were about to corner the PBM nurses, tanods pounced on them. Pete Laude
