Task Force LPG formed

-
The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) has organized a task force that would go after traders illegally selling refilled liquified petroleum gas (LPG) products.

Metro police chief Director Vidal Querol said he formed Task Force LPG, a combined force of the Philippine National Police, NCRPO and representatives of the Liquefied Petroleum Gas Industry Association (LPGIA).

The NCRPO said there is a law that provides stiffer penalties for traders who are engaged in selling refilled branded LPG cylinders of Shellane, Petron Gasul, Caltex, Total Gas and Superkalan Gas.

Querol said the NCRPO will strictly enforce laws and arrest violators.

"We do not want that illegal activities of some traders in Metro Manila to continue because we want to help protect the consuming public and our business sector," he said.

Querol said that substandard LPG tanks are considered fire hazards, especially during the summer season.

"Part of our mission in the PNP is not only to protect lives and property, but to prevent unscrupulous activities such as proliferation of illegal gas, which not only affect our economy, but also poses danger," said Querol. – Sandy Araneta
