Chief watchman killed in Malabon
April 8, 2006 | 12:00am
The chief watchman of a barangay was killed while a colleague was wounded after two still unidentified motorcycle-riding men shot them in front of the barangay hall last Thursday night in Catmon, Malabon City.
Senior Superintendent Moises "Kamagong" Guevarra, Malabon police chief, identified the fatality as Wilfredo Bombio alias "Tikyo", 45, executive officer of Barangay Catmon.
Bombio was taken to the Pagamutang Bayan ng Malabon (PBM), but was declared dead on arrival due to a bullet wound in the nape.
Seriously wounded was barangay tanod Efren Noya, of Gulayan, Catmon, Malabon City. Noya, earlier taken to the PBM, was transferred to the Tondo Medical Center, where he is now under observation for a gunshot wound in the abdomen.
Probers found nine empty shells from a caliber .45 pistol at the crime scene.
Records showed the Bombio was chatting with Noya around 10:15 p.m. in front of the barangay hall along Sanciangco street when the suspects, on board a blue Kawasaki 125 with "For Registration" plates, suddenly stopped in front of them.
One of the suspects alighted, drew a caliber .45 pistol and, at pointblank range, fired at Bombio, hitting him in the nape. Noya was shot in the stomach.
The suspects then fled toward Tonsuya. Police have yet to determine the motive for the killing. With Pete Laude
