This was after their were awarded land titles to the lots they have been occupying for years.
The owner agreed to sell the said property to the beneficiaries through a financing scheme funded by the Social Housing Finance Corp. and the National Home Mortgage Finance Corp. after the city government of Pasig successfully facilitated negotiations with the tenants for its purchase.
"This is the result of the cooperation among the national government agencies concerned, the city government and the stakeholders, themselves, the property owners and the tenants. This is a win-win arrangement for all concerned," Pasig City Mayor Vicente Eusebio said.
The city governments efforts to provide affordable housing to residents, especially those who cannot afford to have homes of their own through conventional or commercial housing schemes, is part of the Eusebio administrations Pabahay sa Pasig program.
Since the housing program was started, some 436 families in Pasig have been provided with homes they can now call their own.
The city government has invested about P138 million for the development of a total land area amounting to 3,000 square meters for housing projects. The first was the Eusebio Bliss Village 1 in Barangay Maybunga, with 14 four-story residential buildings housing the families of about 336 government employees, teachers and policemen.
