OFW jumps from bridge

-
A former overseas Filipino worker, for still unknown reasons, leaped to his death from the Guadalupe Bridge along EDSA in Barangay Guadalupe Nuevo in Makati City.

Cesar Dimarukot, 62, died at the Ospital ng Makati where he was rushed after rescuers recovered his body from the murky waters of the Pasig River

Reports from the Makati Police Department said the incident happened at around 2:30 p.m. as witnessed by a Department of Public Safety (DPS) and a Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) traffic enforcer.

"They saw him standing at the railing and then he jumped," Homicide Division chief, Senior Inspector Gary Reyes, told The STAR.

Police said Dimarukot, a native of Tarlac, Tarlac, did not seem to be suffering from mental problems.

"We found a passport on him, but no relatives have come to us to further identify and claim the body," Reyes explained.

Police Officer 2 Dominador Robles said Rocardo Tabamo of the Makati-DPS and Ricardo Tabamo of the MMDA saw what happened.
4 OFWs in Saudi out of danger
Meanwhile, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said four of the five OFWs in Saudi Arabia who were hurt in a fire last Wednesday have been released from the hospital after receiving treatment for minor burns.

The Philippine Embassy in Riyadh reported to the DFA that Randy Bradencinia, Rey Almero, Efren Guerra and Bernie Esteledes were released on the same day.

The Filipinos were hurt along with Joemar Abejaron in a fire that hit their company compound that started in the vacant room adjacent to the room of Abejaron at around 2 a.m.

Charge d’Affaires Germinia Aguilar-Usudan of the Philippine Embassy in Riyadh said Reynaldo Banda, the embassy’s consular assistant, legal officer and attaché, went to Riyadh Medical Complex Burn Section last Friday to visit Abejaron, who is in stable condition despite sustaining third-degree burn on his face and hands.

The five Filipino workers are employees of Khalda Establishment in Riyadh, and are currently assigned as telephone technicians at the Arab National Bank. – Michael Punongbayan, Pia Lee-Brago
