The parents of Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Edition contestant Rico Robles lost valuables worth more than P2 million as burglars ransacked their house in Malabon City, last Friday, police said yesterday.
Robles father, Ricardo Pascual, 55, of 165 M. Sioson street, Dampalit said no one was at the house when the incident occurred.
Police said burglars carted away assorted pieces of jewelry worth P2 million and cash worth P40,000 and $2,800. The money was placed inside a steel vault, which was also taken.
City police chief Senior Superintendent Moises Guverra has directed elements of the Station Investigation and Detective Management Section-Special Operation Group (SIMDS-SOG) to hunt down the burglars.
The incident was discovered at around 3:30 p.m., reports said. Pascual had just arrived after playing badminton with friends.
The victim then sought help from the Malabon police station after realizing his house was broken into.
Police prober PO3 Benedicto Zafra said that the robbery might have occurred as early as 11:30 a.m.
Aware that the house was empty, the burglars scaled the concrete fence. They entered through the back door, which was apparently left open.
Robles, a disc jockey, was recently evicted from the reality television show of ABS-CBN.
