Child abuse raps filed vs teacher

A child abuse case was filed yesterday before the Taguig City Prosecutor’s Office against a teacher who allegedly made two of her students eat pencil shavings as a form of punishment.

Brenda Elbambuena, 45, a teacher of the Silangan Elementary School Main (SESM), was charged based on the complaint filed by one of the students and her mother.

Elbambuena also faces an additional case of child abuse or charges of homicide pending the outcome of an autopsy on student Maria Delmar Redota, who died of acute tonsillitis last week.

The other student was accompanied by Office of Social Welfare and Development head Nitz Jordan and social worker Jurita Olvido, who were directed by Taguig Mayor Freddie Tiñga to coordinate with the police for a thorough investigation and the filing of proper charges against Elbambuena for allegedly maltreating the students.
