Bank robbers strike in Novaliches

- Katherine Adraneda -
A bank in Novaliches, Quezon City lost a still undetermined amount of cash yesterday after four men and one woman pulled off a heist by disarming the establishment’s lone security guard.

The Quezon City Police District’s Criminal Investigation Unit (QCPD-CIU) said the heist took place at the Premiere Bank along Quirino Highway in Forest Hill Gulod at around 10 a.m.

Two of the suspects — one male and one female — posed as clients and entered the bank. After being frisked by the guard, the male suspect grabbed his service shotgun. The three other suspects quickly entered the establishment.

The suspects herded three bank tellers, a courier, and the security guard into the comfort room and locked them up.

No other clients were present in the bank during the robbery, police said.

The female suspect then stepped outside to act as a lookout while her companions scooped up cash from the tellers’ drawers.

Police said the suspects failed to open the cash vault of the bank in the heist that lasted 10 minutes.
