TMG chief sacked

Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Arturo Lomibao ordered last night the relief of Traffic Management Group (TMG) director Chief Superintendent Augusto Angcanan "to ensure an impartial and thorough probe into the shooting incident in Pasig City."

"It is in the interest of transparency," Lomibao said of his directive, which took effect yesterday.

Last Thursday, TMG officers mistook a vehicle being driven by a company executive for a "hot" car during pursuit operations on C-5. The driver was wounded when officers fired upon the car.

Lomibao ordered the administrative relief of Angcanan, who will swap positions with Chief Superintendent Errol Pan, the deputy director of the Directorate for Plans.
