Six new patrol cars for Mandaluyong police

Mandaluyong City Mayor Neptali Gonzales III has donated six brand-new patrol cars to the local police to strengthen its mobility in the war against all forms of criminality.

The donation came after the Mandaluyong City police was adjudged as the Best Police Station in Metro Manila for 2005.

For winning the award, Gonzales treated the 23 local police officials to dinner at the Shangri-La Hotel where he encouraged them to continue displaying dedication and professionalism in performing their duties.

Mandaluyong police chief Superintendent Ericson Velasquez said Gonzales also expressed satisfaction over the local police’s performance in the campaign against criminality and illegal drugs.

The Toyota Vios vehicles, which cost around P700,000 each, were turned over to the police force during simple ceremonies over the weekend.

Velasquez vowed to work harder to make Mandaluyong City crime-free and investor friendly.

The latest donation brought to 17 the patrol vehicles of the local police.

Velasquez told The Star that the vehicles would be deployed to commercial centers as a preventive measure against criminality.

His top priority this year, he said, is to bring down cases of theft and robbery in commercial centers. — Non Alquitran
