Malabon City to launch Bisita Barangay project

To bring basic services closer to the people, Malabon City would launch next week the "Bisita Barangay" project.
Mayor Canuto "Tito" Oreta will led the projects launch on March 14 in Barangay Tugatog.
Among the basic services that the Bisita Barangay project would bring to the residents are free dental and medical services to be spearheaded by the city health department.
City health chief Dr. Billy Goco said that other services his department would offer are blood typing, nutrition and diet counseling, free circumcision, vaccination and mass deworming of young children.
The project would also look into the problems of the citys older residents through the Senior Citizens office.
Among the projects being pushed for older residents is the senior citizens ID and purchase booklet that would entitle them to 20 percent discount in purchasing medicines in drug stores.
The Bisita Barangay, through the Community and Urban Poor Affairs Office, would personally bring to the senior residents their IDs and booklets.
The Mayors Office would also put up a complaint desk to receive suggestions and complaints from residents.
The Civil Registry office, on the other hand, would receive late registrations from each barangay while the Manpower office would offer free repair services on minor appliances.
"This is our way of ensuring that basic services would benefit a large number of our constituents, especially the poor who could not even afford the fare to the city hall," Oreta said.
Solid waste management, public employment, agricultural activities, and plans to start a "soup kitchen" would also be tackled as municipal employees are set to visit all of the citys 21 barangays this year.
