February 27, 2006 | 12:00am
A traffic policeman from the Pasay City police was arrested over the weekend for the murder of a scion of a well-to-do family in Malolos, Bulacan in December last year.
PO2 Orlando Frigillana, 33, did not resist arrest when nabbed by elements of the Regional Intelligence and Special Operations Office (RISOO) at the Traffic Enforcement Unit (TEU) at about 11:30 p.m. Saturday along Aurora Blvd.
RISOO chief Superintendent Sotero Ramos Jr. said his men were armed with a warrant of arrest issued last Feb. 21 by Judge Crisanto Concepcion of Branch 12 of the Third Judicial Region in Malolos.
Ramos disarmed Frigillana of his issued firearm, a caliber .9mm automatic pistol.
According to Ramos, Frigillana shot Eli Laya in Marilao town on Dec. 26, 2005 with a caliber .45 automatic pistol. The two men were reportedly courting the same woman.
Laya was hit in the chest and different parts of the body and died on the spot.
"Wala akong kinalaman sa kasong yan sir (Im not involved in that case, sir)," Frigillana told Ramos.
Frigillana was still in uniform when brought to the RISOO office in Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig City.
Ramos said the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) has also shown interest in Frigillana. "Tumawag rin ang CIDG para kunin siya sa hindi ko pa alam na kaso (The CIDG also called to pick him up for his possible involvement in another case)," he said. Non Alquitran
