Fire hits Las Piñas chapel

-
A chapel in Las Piñas City was partially destroyed yesterday in a fire that started near the altar.

Senior Fire Officer 3 Noel Consignado, arson investigator, said the blaze damaged the Community Church of Las Piñas located on Daisy street in Pilar Village at around 10 a.m.

No one was hurt in the incident.

Consignado said the 28-year-old chapel’s altar caught fire due to an overload in the electrical system.

The caretaker’s room located at the back of the altar and a portion of the chapel’s ceiling, were also partially damaged.

The fire, which reached second alarm, was contained by firefighters 30 minutes later.

Consignado said that the chapel’s supervisor should think about installing additional electrical lines since they found out during their investigation that the chapel had been using numerous appliances with limited electrical connections. – Rhodina Villanueva
