Caloocan City Mayor Enrico "Recom" Echiverri announced yesterday that some 4,829 families were able to own the land on which their houses were built through the local governments socialized housing program Community Mortgage Program (CMP).
Echiverri said 205,099.2 hectares were allotted for socialized housing from January to December 2005 with the help of Urban Poor Affairs Office (UPAO) and support of concerned government agencies. In its year-end report, UPAO stated the city government allotted P348,515,920 for the projects.
Echiverri said the figures are expected to increase as other projects are now lined up for implementation.
He said the CMP is in line with his sworn commitment toward improving the standard of living of the homeless and the less fortunate in the city. Among the ongoing projects were the Baoayan Property in Bgy. 171, Bagumbong, Caloocan for 206 families; Villa Alicia II Subdivision in Bgy. 171 for 906 families; Villa Alicia I Subdivision in Bgy. 171 for 332 families; Recomville Subdivision in Bgy. 170, Deparo, Caloocan for 715 families; and St. Thomas Subdivision in Bgy. 171 for 80 families
