Caloocan cop shoots brother-in-law dead

A police officer shot dead his brother-in-law who reportedly went amuck and attacked him with a hammer Saturday night in Caloocan City.
PO3 Elvis Imperial, 42, assigned at the Caloocan City police Sub-Station 4 and a resident of Barangay 178, Camarin, Caloocan City, immediately surrendered to his superiors after shooting Rogelio Belen.
According to PO3 Arnel de Guzman, Belen, 42, a resident of Capitol Parlano st., Maligaya Park Subdivision, Camarin, went to his brother-in-laws house to look for his wife, Werlita, at around 6 p.m.
The couple had a misunderstanding earlier. But the victim, who was apparently drunk, was not allowed to enter the cops house.
Armed with a hammer and a steel bar, Belen went berserk. He hit Imperials gate and his door with a hammer. Not contented, Belen also broke the side mirrors of Imperials car.
After a while, his wife, who was inside Imperials house, slowly opened the door thinking that her husband was already gone, but was surprised when the latter suddenly sprung and forced himself inside the house.
This prompted Imperial to go out of his room and tried to pacify his brother-in-law but was instead attacked by the latter, forcing the police officer to shoot Belen once.
Belen was hit in the body and died immediately. Pete Laude
