QC business databank updating 52,000 entries

- Perseus Echeminada -
The Quezon City Business Registry Databank (QCBRD), the first interactive business registry system in the country, is now validating and updating information on all business establishments in the city.

Nathan Zulueta, managing director of the QCBRD and president of the Quezon City Chamber of Commerce and Industry Foundation (QCCCIF), said that pursuant to City Ordinance SP 1429, all business establishments are required to submit and update their business information datasheet yearly upon renewing their business licenses.

"The updated and truthful information data shall be considered as a pre-requisite for the issuance of yearly renewal of business license for all commercial, industrial and business establishments operating in the city," Zulueta said.

He said the program which was presented to Mayor Feliciano Belmonte Jr. in a recent executive meeting, has started getting the attention of other local government units.

Since it is impossible to process more than 52,000 registered establishments during the Jan. 2 to 20 business renewal period, the QCCCIF sought the assistance of the Liga ng mga Barangay to accept QCBRD registration, updating and validation in the barangays when business establishments apply for barangay clearances.

QCBRD registration forms are available at all 142 barangay halls and the QC Liga ng mga Barangay Office at City Hall for the convenience of the business community.

QCBRD aims to develop a data system that will store valuable information on all local businesses. It will be the main repository of business data in the city. Now on-line and operational, the database can be accessed through the website www.qcbizregistry.com.ph launched last October during the city’s 66th foundation anniversary.

City business demographics essential in business decisions are also available in the databank.

Zulueta said the databank is an essential tool in business. For the city government and barangays, the system will provide the information backbone for the eventual introduction of paperless transactions in business registrations and renewals in the near future.
