1992 Agusan massacre suspect nabbed

Joint elements of the Quezon City Police District-Special Weapons and Tactics (QCPD-SWAT) team and R2-Caraga arrested yesterday afternoon the principal suspect in the massacre of six people in Agusan del Sur almost 14 years ago.
QCPD director Chief Superintendent Nicasio Radovan identified the suspect as Elpidio Higana, the alleged leader of a gang that was responsible for the Dicamon massacre in Agusan in 1992.
Higana was apprehended in San Roque, Barangay Pag-asa at around 1:30 p.m. yesterday.
Chief Inspector Medel Pone, head of the QCPD-SWAT, said Higana was tagged as the principal suspect in the case.
According to him, Higanas arrest was a result of a three-day operation that started Dec. 30. All other suspects in the massacre have been arrested by authorities.
Higana was brought to the QCPD headquarters in Camp Karingal immediately. Katherine Adraneda
