Dr. Julius Drilon, medical director of the city-run Ospital ng Makati (Osmak), said that such measures are now in place at the Osmak in Pembo and its free-standing emergency unit in Bel-Air, the Acute Care Center (ACC).
"The Emergency Department (ED) of both facilities will be adequately staffed and equipped round-the-clock to accommodate any sudden influx of emergency cases arising from firecracker-related accidents, especially on Christmas Eve and New Years Eve, without disrupting their services to the usual critical, acute and primary care patients," Drilon said.
At Osmak, six residents of the different clinical departments have been assigned to man the ED, to be assisted by three interns, three nurses per shift, two triage clerks, two ER utility personnel per shift, one billing clerk and one ambulance driver. Michael Punongbayan
