Caloocan lauds DFA’s mobile passport service

The Caloocan City government lauded yesterday the Department of Foreign Affairs’ (DFA) mobile passport program, which provide residents with fast and efficient service.

"In the past, residents were having a very hard time securing a passport, but now it’s too easy for them to acquire one without having to go to different places and to go through long lines," Mayor Enrico "Recom" Echiverri said.

Through the project, at least 400 passports were released in Caloocan City alone.

The mayor also said that applicants with complete requirements were able to secure their passports in just an hour.

Aside from saving time and effort, applicants were also able to save on money as they did not have to travel to the DFA main office to apply for their passports.

Assistant Secretary Domingo Lucero of the DFA’s Consular Affairs Office, and Director Celeste Feliciano-Gatmaitan of the Passport Division led the foreign affairs personnel last Saturday in holding the mobile passport service in Caloocan City.

The project was made possible through the Office of the President, DFA Secretary Alberto Romulo, the Caloocan City government in cooperation with City Civil Registrar Luchi Flores, Liga ng mga Barangay president Councilor RJ Echiverri and Kristine Martinez. — Pete Laude
