158 groups join Pasig choral competition

A total of 158 vocal solo artists and choral groups would be competing in the 11th Paskong Himig sa Pasig Choral competition this year.

A P25,000 grand prize await the winners.

Pasig City First Lady Soledad Eusebio said this year’s competition is open to non-Pasigueños due to the public’s clamor and also to make the contest more exciting.

"We are very happy to note that public reaction to our singing contest is very positive, judging from this year’s turnout," said Eusebio.

Only 10 participants will be chosen per category to compete during the grand finals scheduled on Dec. 14 to 16 at the Pasig Convention Center.

Aside from the cash prize, the winners will receive a trophy as the best Christmas caroler in Metro Manila.

Sponsored by the Pasig City government, this year’s competition is the biggest ever since it was established more than 10 year’s ago by Eusebio to foster the Christmas spirit in the metropolis.

Eusebio said contestants coming from Quezon City, Manila, Makati City, Taguig City and the neighboring towns of Rizal province have signified their intention to join the competition.

The singing contest is divided into three categories — children, youth and adults — and would be open only to amateur singers. — Non Alquitran
