6 vintage bombs dug up in QC

-
Police bomb disposal experts dug up at least six World War II bombs after they were discovered by a construction worker along Granada street in Barangay Valencia, Quezon City yesterday.

Six 81-mm mortar shells were retrieved by elements of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) bomb disposal squad that rushed to the site of the discovery.

Reports said Waldo Perez, who was part of a crew working on a road widening and improvement project on Granada street, accidentally dug up one of the mortar shells at around 11 a.m.

He immediately alerted the police.

Responding policemen sealed off the area and supervised the retrieval of six bombs at the site.

Police said residents of Barangay Valencia claimed at least 27 vintage bombs were dug up near the site a few months ago. — Perseus Echeminada
