Early bonus for Malabon employees
November 20, 2005 | 12:00am
With Caloocan City and Navotas having earlier led the way, Malabon City Mayor Canuto "Tito" Oreta has followed suit and ordered the release of P18-million as Christmas bonus for City Hall workers.
Oreta said he made sure his office was prepared to rush to the aid of some 1,000 City Hall workers for the anticipated effects of the expanded value added tax.
The mayor directed city treasurer Ernesto Pabustan to release the fund from savings generated and placed into the general fund.
Oreta said each employee will get a cash gift equivalent to a months salary and an additional P5,000 each for all the citys regular employees.
Contractual workers get to receive P5,000 each as cash gift.
Earlier, Oreta had ordered the release of the regular workers 13th month pay.
Oreta said the windfall should ease the financial burden of the city workers and allow them to enjoy the holidays. Jerry Botial, Pete Laude
