Carjackers strike anew in Makati

-
Five carjackers in military uniforms forcibly took a brand new Toyota Hi-Lux from its owner in Makati City shortly after midnight yesterday.

Fidelis Elumba, 42, a cargo agent and a resident of Maligaya Subdivision, Novaliches in Quezon City, told police that he was driving the vehicle on the Magallanes flyover in Makati when his path was blocked by a white Honda Civic at around 12:30 a.m.

Elumba said he noticed the Civic had been following him before it overtook his black Hi-Lux and forced him to stop.

Five men in military uniform approached his vehicle and ordered him to step out. They were armed with M-16 rifles.

Elumba said he was ordered to board the suspects’ vehicle. Once inside, he was blindfolded.

The suspects took Elumba’s cash amounting to some P12,000 and his cellular phone. They then took him to an ATM and forced him to withdraw P20,000.

After several minutes, the car stopped again and Elumba was dropped off along Leveriza street in Manila.

The victim reported the incident to the Manila police, which forwarded it to the Makati Police Department.
