Emma Javier, officer-in-charge of the citys Public Employment and Services Office (PESO), said the event aims to reduce the number of unemployed in the city, currently pegged at 7,872, but still among the lowest rate in Metro Manila.
Javier said they are targeting more than 1,000 jobseekers to be hired by 50 big companies that would participate in the event. The citys previous job fairs resulted to the employment of some 3,284 jobseekers.
The event is the fifth mega job fair hosted by the local government through the effort of Mayor Neptali Gonzales II and the Green Ladies Movement (GLM), headed by the citys first lady, Alexandria "Queenie" Gonzales.
"People of Mandaluyong are able, skilled and knowledgeable individuals and I believe that through this mega job fair many will be hired and we will be able to lower the number of unemployment in the city.
