Bar owner abducted in Caloocan

A bar owner was abducted at gunpoint by at least eight men as he came out of a fastfood joint late Friday night along EDSA in Caloocan City.

SPO2 Roland Mendoza, officer-on-case, said Nestor Urgel, 29, videoke bar operator and a resident of Binondo, Manila, was forcibly taken by still unidentified suspects carrying long firearms at around 8:30 p.m.

Initial investigation showed Urgel’s wife, Melody, 21, bar overseer-entertainer, reported the incident to the police.

The victim’s wife told probers they had just taken a meal at a hamburger joint at the corner of EDSA and Asuncion street in Morning Breeze Subdivision and was about to board their car when four men pointed assault rifles at them and grabbed a surprised Urgel.

The armed men dragged and shoved him into a waiting gray Mitsubishi Pajero with no plates. The vehicle then sped toward Monumento.

The wife was left unharmed.

Witnesses said three other cars of unknown model and with several men on board acting as lookouts and backup followed the Pajero in a convoy.

Police said the motive for the abduction could not be determined yet even as a manhunt for the suspects has been launched for their early arrest.
