PACER kills kidnap suspect in Las Piñas

A kidnap-for-ransom suspect, tagged as the No. 7 most wanted criminal, was killed in an encounter with a police task force in Las Piñas City the other day.

Investigators identified the slain suspect as Aljon Martinez, a resident of Paliparan 2, Dasmariñas, Cavite, and an alleged member of the Waray-Waray kidnap-for-ransom group.

Police Officer 3 Roland Abraham said a Police Anti-Crime Emergency Response (PACER) team and officers from the Region 4-Intelligence and Investigation Division were in Barangay Pamplona I in Las Piñas last Tuesday night to arrest martinez.

The arrest warrant was issued by Judge Stella Cabuco Andres of the San Pedro Regional Trial Court in Laguna.

At around 7:15 p.m., police spotted the suspect in front of a house on Balagtas street.

Upon seeing the arresting officers, the suspect ran toward a house owned by a certain Leonida Sayman.

The suspect was killed in the ensuing shootout.

Recovered from the scene was a caliber .45 pistol owned by the suspect.

Martinez had been under surveillance by PACER for two weeks.
