Japanese trader killed in Las Piñas

A 45-year-old Japanese businessman was shot dead by unidentified attackers outside his home in Las Piñas City early yesterday.

The police identified the victim as Uehara Tsotumo, a resident of Casimiro Avenue, Casimiro Village in Pamplona III, Las Piñas. He was the owner of a restaurant-bar in Alabang, Muntinlupa City.

Police Officer 2 Romeo Britanico, case investigator, said the incident took place at around 2 a.m. as Tsotumo and his wife Corazon were about to enter their house.

Four men, on board a car, fired several shots at Tsotumo as his terrified wife looked on.

The suspects took a bag belonging to the couple before fleeing.

In Malabon City, a taxi driver was found dead yesterday with his throat slashed and his wallet missing.

Police said the body of Rogelio Baturi, a resident of Fairview, Quezon City, was discovered inside a parked Spear taxi (TWM-784) on Reparo street , Barangay Potrero, at 5:20 a.m. by a barangay watchman.
