MMDA Chairman Bayani Fernando said the exodus of families to the provinces and the light traffic should give the agency enough time to complete the work on damaged portions of the 24-kilometer thoroughfare.
MMDA Executive Director Angelito Vergel de Dios said work would be concentrated on portions of EDSA in Guadalupe and Buendia in Makati City.
"Chairman Fernando wants to speed up the completion of the re-blocking so that when the people return to Metro Manila, a better and improved EDSA would greet them," he said.
The project will cost the MMDA some P62 million, but Fernando said he doesnt mind the cost as long as it results in better roads for Metro Manila motorists.
"If we have good roads, we will have smooth traffic. We will also have drivers who will no longer lose their cool over traffic jams," the MMDA chief said. Michael Punongbayan
