Girl dies after drinking cyanide

A two-year-old girl died after accidentally drinking cyanide in Tondo, Manila the other day.
Police said Xyrene Visquero died while undergoing treatment at the Mary Johnston Hospital.
Investigators said the victim was playing with her three-year-old sister inside their residence at 301 Paraiso street, Tondo when she found a glass half-filled with a transparent liquid.
The girl drank its contents.
She was rushed to the hospital after her father saw her writhing in pain.
A police investigator said the liquid the girl drank was a mixture of cyanide, which the girls father uses for cleaning jewelry.
Meanwhile, a 46-year-old jobless man succeeded in ending his life in his fourth try in Malate, Manila yesterday.
The body of Nicanor Orpilla was discovered by his cousin hanging inside his room at 2379 Champaca street, Arellano Avenue, Singalong, Malate.
He was declared dead on arrival at the Ospital ng Maynila.
His neighbors said the victim had tried three times in the past to end his life, including slashing his wrists, after he was left by his wife.
