A defective LPG tank that burst into flames while being installed by a delivery boy caused a two-hour fire in Barangay Sta. Lucia, Novaliches, Quezon City yesterday.
Seven people were hurt in the blaze that razed at least 20 houses on Abad Santos street at around 9 a.m.
The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) said the fire was placed under control two hours later.
Arthur Sanchez, of Quezon City Red Cross (QCRC), said those taken to the East Avenue Medical Center for treatment were Gemma, Willie, Joel and Allan, all surnamed Palar, Floro Bilaos, Pablo Sora and the unidentified LPG delivery boy. They were treated for second degree burns
Sanchez said the delivery boy was installing an LPG tank in the kitchen of the Palar residence when it suddenly burst into flames.
The fire spread quickly to neighboring houses.
The QCRC, in coordination with the Quezon City government disaster coordinating council, provided relief and medical assistance to affected families.
The fire was the third fire that hit Quezon City the last three days.
Last Saturday, fires broke out in Barangays Pinyahan and Manresa, leaving 20 people hurt and destroying at least 500 houses.
